About
What this site is
YardWise is a small set of free calculators for bulk landscape materials: mulch, gravel, topsoil, sod and raised-bed soil. Every one of them answers the same shape of question — how much do I buy, and what will it cost at the price I was quoted — and every one runs on the same engine.
The site is written and maintained by the YardWise team, which is an organisational byline, not a person. We do not invent an author, a reviewer or a credential. If a named human reviewer is added later, that person will have actually reviewed the pages.
How the calculators are built
There is one pipeline: area, volume, overage, units, cost. Materials are data rows, not code paths, so adding a sixth material would be a row and some copy rather than a new formula.
Every page is complete HTML before any JavaScript runs. The default example answer is rendered at build time by the same engine that updates it as you type, so the visible answer and the computed answer cannot drift apart.
What it deliberately does not do
- It does not recommend a depth, a base, a footing, a compaction level or a drainage design — those are inputs or out of scope, and nothing here is engineering advice.
- It does not publish a price for any material. Prices are fields you fill in; the example values are labelled as examples.
- It does not show reviews, ratings, testimonials, counts of users, timers or scarcity. None of those exist anywhere in the build.
- It does not run analytics, set cookies, load a webfont or call a third party.
